Many of our guests find the one minute walk from their cottage to the pub, perhaps twice a day, sufficient exercise for the duration of their stay!
However, we are surrounded by beautiful countryside to explore. There are a huge number of walks from gentle strolls to serious hiking.
The Crayke Estate Walk, which takes a couple of hours, actually starts from The Durham Ox car park. We can provide a packed lunch, but it is achievable after breakfast and back in time for lunch. Please ask for a detailed map of this walk.
For more serious expeditions, Ordnance survey maps of the area are available to borrow. We will also assist you in drying soggy clothing when necessary!
